|Samsung Gear S4||45%||Optical Camera|

Apple Watch 4
I know what you’re thinking, wasn’t the Apple Watch 3 just released at the end of 2017? Why yes it was, but that shouldn’t keep us from discussing the possible Series 4 release at the end of 2018. Seeing as though past Apple Watch releases were a year apart, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that we see the Apple Watch 4 come out sometime in September or November of 2018.
But don’t expect the same old Apple Watch design that we’ve seen from the past 3 releases. Expect Apple to bring their “A” game on this one. Talks of a circular display will bring it more inline with top android devices and provide traditional watch aesthetics. Apple could even incorporate a camera directly into the display.
Another improvement will possibly be self-adjusting wrist bands that loosen and tighten depending on the activity it senses. Adding functionality into the band will allow Apple to branch out from the confines of the watch unit itself. One patent has already been filed by Apple to incorporate the display into the parts of the band itself.
Samsung Gear S4
It’s been over a year since the Samsung Gear S3 was released, and there has yet to be an announcement by Samsung on what their next smartwatch may be. The general consensus is that it will be named the Gear S4 and available for release in mid to late 2018.
Several patents have already been filed for Samsung, giving us a glimpse of what features the Gear S4 may bring to the table. A recent 3dnews article states that the Gear S4 could have a camera with an optical zoom lens and a watch strap that is also a display. Other improvements could be increasing battery life by adding battery cells to the strap itself and a rotary dial display.
These improvements would propel Samsung far ahead of any of it’s competitors if they manage to pull it off. Expect a slightly higher price tag though if these features do end up on the Gear S4.
Fitbit Charge 3
The Fitbit Charge 2 remains one of the best selling fitness watches and it’s been over a year since it’s release. Even so, rumors speculate that the Fitbit Charge 3 is not far away. Fitbit just launched it’s flagship Ionic Smartwatch, but the product lineup is lacking for a mid-priced fitness watch like the Charge 3.
What can we expect from the Charge 3? First off, the overall watch design should be less bulky than the Charge 2, a complaint users with small wrists often had. Sensors and the Apps to record them should be streamlined as well offering a better user experience.
Among the biggest improvements will be the integration of an internal GPS. The Charge 2 required pairing with a smartphone for GPS tracking, but breaking free with an independent GPS is a must for the new Charge 3. Expect the Charge 3 to be released at the end of 2018.

You may be wondering where Apple managed to improve the iWatch 3 the most and that would be with the development of the new S3 processor. Replacing the S2 chip found in the Apple Watch 2, Apple claims that the 3 Series watch is 70% faster!! Included in the dual core processor are a barometric altimeter, wireless processor (W2), and a cellular modem.
Another improvement for the Apple Watch 3 is the integration of watchOS 4 software. This intelligent interface has redefined how smartwatches interact with the users. When Do New Smartwatches Come Out In 2019?
Smart watch release dates are always hard to predict, but based on past releases we can develop an educated guess on possible timelines. Below are the likely release dates for upcoming smartwatches such as the Apple Watch 4, Samsung Gear S4, Fitbit Charge 3, and other top smartwatches.
Apple Watch 4 Release Date 2019
Apple has not acknowledged the Watch 4 yet, but patents have already been filed which have alluded to its existence. Judging by past Apple watch release dates, we expect the Apple Watch 4 to be released in late 2018 or early 2019.
Starting in 2015, a new version of the Apple Watch has been released each subsequent year. Granted, the design of the Apple Watch Series 1, 2 and 3 have remained relatively unchanged, so we expect the Apple Watch 4 to bring a new design which may push back its release slightly. Still, we expect a late 2018 or early 2019 release of the Apple Watch 4.
Android Watch Release Dates 2019
Apple isn’t the only company we’re expecting to see release new smartwatches for 2019. Several Android smartwatches will also hit the market, including the Samsung Gear S4, Fenix 6, Huawei Watch 3, Sony Smartwatch 4, and Asus ZenWatch 4. Fitbit will also get in on the action by releasing a new and approved Charge 3 fitness tracker. Here are the likely release dates of upcoming Android and Fitbit smartwatches.
There’s a lot to be excited about in regards to Android watches and 2019 is setting up to bring new and industry leading designs to the forefront. We expect the Samsung Gear S4 to be released sometime in the middle of the summer, followed shortly by the Huawei Watch 3, and possibly the Garmin Fenix 6 and Fitbit Charge 3 by 2019.
What To Look For In 2019?
2019 brings several new technological advances into the smartwatch arena. Not only will designs be changing, but the hardware along with battery life will be improving to deliver more efficient watches.
Some of the most talked about improvements for 2019 will be 5G implementation, features incorporated into wristbands, in-camera displays, and automatically adjusting straps.
Optical Zoom Camera
Expect the new Samsung Gear 4S and the Apple Watch 4 to be equipped with optical zoom camera lenses. It’s yet to be seen just how capable the zoom and pixel quality may be, but several patents have been field alluding to its existence. There’s even Swiss smartwatch that’s already been released with a 41-megapixel camera.
Even Apple has expanded it’s search for the next big development by incorporating more functionality into the watch band itself. Lets face it, there’s a limit to how big a watch can be before people will refuse to wear it because it’s bulky and encumbering. By adding features to the watch band itself, the size limitations are greatly reduced.
Features the may be incorporated for 2019 may be displays that take up all view-able space. Basically the watch band itself will be an interactive display with a host of touchscreen options and added viewing area. It remains to be seen how effective this strategy may be, since watch bands tend to wear out quickly, but it may offer a new pathway to a once limited design.
Smartwatches have come a long way in recent years and 2019 will be no exception. Upcoming smartwatch releases of the Apple Watch 4, Fitbit Charge 3, and Samsung Gear S4 are anticipated to bring a host of features and new designs into the arena.
Several new exciting features may be added to the best smartwatches 2019. These include ideas that incorporate increased functionality into the wristband. These improvements include added battery storage capacity, displays in the band itself, and automatic adjusting wristbands.
It’s important to keep an eye out for new smartwatch releases in 2019, but for those needing a watch right now, we’ve found that the Apple Watch 3 is the best smartwatch overall. Its S3 processor combined with watchOS 4 software excels above all other wearables in user experience. Check out the Apple Watch 3 now on Amazon.com.
